The Ontario LATIN ARTS Festival 2014 will highlight the cultural heritage of the Hispanic peoples of Canada. This free public event includes live performances with over 100 musicians, dancers, and local artisans at Mel Lastman Square and the North York Civic Centre in Toronto. Mel Lastman Square’s outdoor stage will host performances by top Latin musicians and dancers while the market area will feature food vendors, arts and crafts displays, dance workshops, and children’s activities. The North York Civic Center will host the Visual Arts Showcase featuring artists of Hispanic Heritage.
Who organizes the Ontario LATIN ARTS Festival?
The Ontario LATIN ARTS Festival is organized by the Hispanic Canadian Arts and Cultural Organization. Our Mission is to preserve and promote the Hispanic culture, roots, traditions in the Greater Toronto Area and the Province of Ontario through the presentation of arts, education, community, and social events and programs.

Where will the Visual Arts Showcase take place?
The Visual Arts Showcase will take place at the North York Civic Center on Saturday July 12th, from 1 – 10pm; and on Sunday July 13th, from 1-6pm.
What do you mean by original art?
All artwork on display must be the original creation of the exhibitor. Reproductions of your own work, or another artist’s work will not be considered.
Can I submit work in more than one Media Category?
Yes, the work exhibited can be within the categories of Drawing, Painting, Photography, Print-making and Mixed Media. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate two-dimensional work.
What is an Artist Statement?
An Artist Statement gives the selection committee a better sense of the artistic vision of your current work. An artist statement should speak to your audience. It should be easy to read and conversational in tone. You will want to speak about your most current exhibit work. You may wish to highlight your work process or unique characteristics about your work. Submit up to 250 words, keeping it brief and personal. Submissions containing over 250 words will not be considered.
How many and how do I submit my Samples of Recent Work?
Please submit three images that best represents the work you intend to showcase. When submitting online, you can simply upload images during the application process. Where possible, include a website link to additional images of your work.
Who is eligible to submit an application?
Professional and amateur artists of Hispanic heritage working in the following disciplines can submit their work for the OLAF 2014 Visual Arts Showcase: Painting, Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, and Mixed Media. Both established and emerging artists are encouraged to apply.
How and when will I find out if I have been accepted?
You will be notified by e-mail two weeks after the deadline for submissions.
I missed the application deadline but was wondering if you accept late applications or have a waiting list?
No, the strict deadline for all submissions is June 1st, 2014.
When should I expect my participant package?
Selected participants will receive detailed packages sent by email. Your package will provide you with a load-in and load-out procedures and important details for the day-of event.
Where will my work be exhibited and how big is the designated space?
Your work will be exhibited at North York Civic Centre main level entrance hall on panels.
Do I have to be at the present at the venue for the entire weekend?
You are not required to be present throughout the entire weekend. However, we encourage you to be present to promote and sell your own work.
Is my work safe and secure at the site?
Though there is security at the North York Civic Centre, they are not in charge of supervising the exhbibition. It is your responsibilty to keep your work safe at all times. The OLAF is not responsible for any theft or mishandling of the artwork.
Does the Festival take a commission from my sales?
